
UCLA Signs Frazier, Wright for 2018-19

UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field has announced the early signing of U.S. National Team member Margzetta Frazier (Erial, N.J.) and Level 10 vault champion Sekai Wright (Paramount, Calif.) to national letters of intent.
"We are very excited to welcome two of the most dynamic gymnasts in the country to UCLA Gymnastics," Kondos Field said. "Margzetta Frazier is known for her versatility, power and presence on every event, as well as her innovative skills and connections. Sekai Wright is a powerhouse who captivates with her dance as well as her high-flying skills. Both of these new Bruins are fierce competitors and primed to burst onto the national collegiate athletic scene."
Frazier, who trains at Parkettes, is a rising star coming off a fifth-place national all-around finish at the P&G Championships in August. She also had Top 10 showing on three events, placing fifth on bars, seventh on floor and eighth on beam. Her Top 6 all-around finish placed her on the U.S. National Team for the first time in her career. In her first year at the senior level, she placed 15th all-around at the 2016 P&G Championships. Also that year, she placed fourth all-around and sixth on vault and floor at the Secret U.S. Classic. At the junior level, she comepted at the P&G Championships in 2015 and 2014.
Wright, who trains at American Gymnastics Academy, is a two-time Level 10 National vault champion, winning the Junior E division in 2016 and the Junior B division in 2015. In 2017, she was runner-up on vault and seventh all-around. She also won the Region 1 vault title and the State all-around, vault, and floor titles this year and the Region 1 vault and State beam titles in 2016. Wright holds a career-best vault score of 9.975, set in February at the Brestyans Las Vegas Invitational.
Frazier and Wright will join the Bruins for the 2019 season.
