Bruins Pick Up Seven Pac-12 Honors

Stein Metzger named Pac-12 Coach of the Year and the McNamara twins were named first team All-Pac-12.

SAN FRANCISCOย --ย In a vote by the Pac-12 coaches, UCLA picked up seven postseason awards as announced by the Conference office today. Stein Metzger was named Pac-12 Coach of the Year and sophomores Nicole McNamara and Megan McNamara were both named first team All-Pac-12 for the second consecutive season. The McNamara twins enter the NCAA Championship with a 26-6 record.
The duo of senior Kamila Tan and freshman Madi Yeomansย (21-13) were named second team All-Pac-12 with Yeomansย picking up All-Freshman Team accolades as well. Torrey Van Winden (27-6) was also named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
USC senior Kelly Claes was voted Pac-12 Beach Volleyball Player of the Year for the second-straight year, and two-time Pac-12 Pairs champion Claes and classmate Sara Hughes are the Pac-12 Pair of the Year for the second-straight year. Stanford'sย Kathryn Plummer was voted the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
UCLA's Metzger earns the Pac-12's Coach of the Year honor for the first time. Under his tutelage, the Bruins are the No. 2-ranked team in the country and the No. 2 overall seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. UCLA handed No. 1 USC its first loss of the season in the semifinal of the Pac-12 Tournament, snapping a 62-dual match Trojan win streak and finished runner up in the Conference Championship, falling by just a pair of points in the deciding dual. The Bruins are 29-4 on the season.
"It is an honor to be named, but the selection is really a reflection of the work our team has put in and their accomplishments throughout the year," Metzger said. "I'm very proud of our team. They have shown up to battle in every one of our 33 matches and have cultivated the ability to play their best when it is required. They are an outstanding group and I'm thrilled to be part of their growth and success."
