Briana Perez Named Pac-12 FOW

SAN FRANCISCO -ย Briana Perez had an outstanding opening weekend to her collegiate career and was bestowed with Pac-12 Conference Freshman of the Week accolades, as announced on Tuesday.
Perez had hits in all five Bruin victories last weekend, including multiple hits in four of five. She went 11-for-18 (.611) with two home runs, 11 runs batted in, nine runs scored, two doubles, two stolen bases and a triple.ย
The freshman had hits in her first two at-bats, adding a stretch of six consecutive plate appearances with a hit later in the week. She posted two hits, two runs and three RBI against Maryland on Feb. 9, including a three-run homer, adding three hits, three RBI and two runs versus Middle Tennessee later that night. On Feb. 10, Perez produced three hits, three runs and three RBI against Cal Poly, notching a pair of doubles as part of an eight-run first inning. To cap off the weekend on Feb. 11, Perez had two hits in another win over Cal Poly and a two-run homer in the weekend finale versus UC Riverside.
Perez's Freshman of the Week award is the seventh in UCLA history in just the fourth year of the award's existence.
