UCLA's Holiday Named Pac-12 Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO – UCLA junior Aaron Holiday has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, as announced Monday by the Pac-12 Conference office.

Holiday helped UCLA (19-8, 10-5 Pac-12) conclude its home schedule in style last week, averaging 23.0 points, 8.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in victories against Oregon State and Oregon. The junior guard from Chatsworth, Calif., scored a game-leading 29 points against Oregon on Saturday, two nights after he posted his second double-double of the year in UCLA's 75-68 win versus Oregon State (17 points, season-high 10 assists).

Holiday currently ranks third among all Pac-12 players in scoring (19.4 ppg) and leads the league with 20.9 points per game in conference games only. He also ranks second in the Pac-12 (all games) in assists per game (5.7), sixth in three-point field goal percentage (42.6%) and ninth in free throw percentage (83.5%).

With season averages of 19.4 points and 5.7 assists per game (27 games), Holiday has become UCLA's first player since Bill Walton in 1973-74 to have logged at least 19 points and five assists per game over the course of a season. Walton registered 19.3 points and 5.5 assists per game as a senior in 1973-74.

In addition, Holiday has become the first UCLA player to average at least 19.0 points per game since J.R. Henderson finished his senior year (1997-98) having averaged 19.0 points per game. No UCLA guard has averaged as many as 19.0 points per game during a full season since Reggie Miller tallied 22.3 points per game as a senior in 1986-87.

Holiday is the Bruins' only player this season to have earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors. He was previously honored with the league's weekly award on Dec. 26, 2017, after having averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds in a pair of wins over South Dakota and No. 7 Kentucky.

UCLA will play at Utah and Colorado this week and has just three games left on its regular-season schedule. The Bruins game on Thursday at Utah will be televised by ESPN, with game time slated for 6 p.m. PT (7 p.m. MT). UCLA plays at Colorado on Sunday, Feb. 25.
