ย
A trio of Bruins were picked on the third day of the 2018 NFL Draft held in Dallas. Linebacker Kenny Young went off the board first as a fourth round addition of the Baltimore Ravens. Offensive lineman Scott Quessenberry went next as a fifth round pick of the LA Chargers and wide receiver Jordan Lasley was a fifth round choice of the Ravens.
ย
Young, who made 42 career starts at linebacker, was a first-team All-Pac-12 Conference selection this past season after finishing second in the league in total tackles per game (8.5). He completed his Bruin career ranked 13th on the all-time school tackles list (304). In 2017, he posted six double-digit tackle efforts, including a career-best 15 stops against California in his final home game.
ย
Quessenberry was a four-year starter along the Bruins offensive line, seeing action primarily at center. He made a total of 44 starts in his UCLA career. Quessenberryย was invited to this year's Senior Bowl after being an honorable mention all-league honoree. In 2016, he was named a first-team All-Pac-12 selection by the league coaches.
ย
Lasley led the Bruins this past season with 69 catches for 1,264 yards and nine touchdowns. His total of 1,264 receiving yards ranked third on the all-time school single-season list and was the ninth-best total in the NCAA in 2017. Lasley set a school mark with three games of 10 or more catches last season (11-Stanford, 10-USC, 12-Cal). He equaled the school record of seven 100-yard receiving games in a season and set a record for the most receiving yards in back-to-back games with 431 yards, after racking up 227 yards vs. Cal and 204 vs. USC. His per game receiving yards average of 140.4 yards established a new school record.
ย
With the choice of Young, a Bruin linebacker has been selected in each of the last five drafts (2017 โ€“ Jayon Brown-Rd. 5 Titans; 2016 โ€“ Myles Jack-Rd. 2 Jaguars, Aaron Wallace-Rd. 7 Titans; 2015 โ€“ Eric Kendricks-Rd. 2 Vikings; 2014 โ€“ Anthony Barr-Rd. 1 Vikings, Jordan Zumwalt-Rd. 6 Steelers). Quessenberry and first-round pick Kolton Miller (Raiders) became the first pair of Bruin offensive linemen to be selected in the same draft since 1996 when Jonathan Ogden (Rd. 1) and Mike Flanagan (Rd. 3) were chosen by the Ravens and Packers, respectively.
