SAN FRANCISCO – The Pac-12 Conference has announced home and away designations for each weekend of league matchups during the 2019-20 women's basketball season. League play gets underway the week of Dec. 23, 2019, and culminates with the 2020 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas, March 5-8 at Mandalay Bay Events Center. The schedule reflects the 18-game slate which determines the seedings at the Pac-12 Tournament. In addition to opponents being identified, home/away weeks have been designated. Specific dates and times for each game within the week have yet to be determined and will be announced at a later date after television selections have been finalized. Tip-off of league play begins no later than Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019.
UCLA will open Pac-12 play by hosting crosstown rival USC during the weekend of Dec. 27-29. Last season, the Bruins won a thriller at USC, 72-65, to open conference play, as they overcame a 13-point, second-half deficit thanks to 27 points and 12 rebounds from Michaela Onyenwere.
The Bruins will remain at home for the next two to kick off 2020, hosting Arizona State and Arizona during the weekend of Jan. 3-5. UCLA finished 3-0 overall against the Arizona schools a year ago.
UCLA's first road Pac-12 game will take the squad to the mountains to face Utah and Colorado during the week of Jan. 10-12. UCLA hasn't lost to either of those squads in quite some time, owning a 14-game winning streak vs. the Utes and an eight-game hot streak against the Buffs.
A rematch with USC precedes a two-game home stand with Washington and Washington State (Jan. 24-26) before UCLA hits the road for four in a row against Arizona and Arizona State (Jan. 31-Feb. 2) and Stanford and California (Feb. 7-9).
A weekend against the Oregon schools is set for Feb. 14-16, and UCLA will have its final road games of the regular season in The Evergreen State during the weekend of Feb. 21-23.
For the second year in a row, UCLA is scheduled to host Colorado and Utah for its final two regular season games during the weekend of Feb. 28-March 1.
Last year, the Bruins finished fourth in Pac-12 play with a 12-6 record and reached the semifinals of the Pac-12 Tournament before falling in overtime to then-ranked No. 6 Oregon, who went on to reach the Final Four in Tampa, Fla. Under the Michael Price Family UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close, the Bruins have finished fourth or tied for third each of the past four seasons.
In 2019-20, UCLA will not host Stanford or California. Likewise, the Bruins will not play at Oregon or Oregon State.
UCLA's complete 2019-20 schedule will be finalized by the Pac-12 later this summer.
The Pac-12 is coming off another unforgettable season which had Oregon in the national semifinal, marking the 10th time in 12 years a league team has advanced that far. Six teams earned NCAA Tournament teams for the third-straight year, going a combined 11-1 in the first two rounds to record the best winning percentage by a conference since 1997. Since 2016, Pac-12 teams have won more NCAA Tournament games (55) than any other conference and have posted the best winning percentage (.696) of any Power 5 league.
