Golfers Fall Twice in Match Play Draw

The fourth-ranked UCLA women's golf team fell twice in match play on Saturday at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia at its campus course.

After earning the top seed Friday by finishing first in the 18-hole stroke play competition, the Bruins lost a couple of close matches to eighth-seed USC and fifth-seed Baylor. Scores of both matches were 3-2.

Junior Louise Ridderstrom scored 1.5 points on the day to lead the Bruins. In the first match, she defeated USC's Kyung Kim, 1-up, and in the second match she halved with Baylor's Giovana Maymon.

Freshman Lydia Choi scored one point against USC, defeating Annie Park, 1-up. Sophomore Bronte Law scored a point in the Baylor match, beating Lauren White, 3 and 2.

UCLA meets Arkansas in the seventh place match on Sunday.
