Maurice (Mac) Goodstein

Mac Goodstein was a center on Bill Spaulding's teams in the late 1920s and early 1930s that first gave UCLA national football recognition. He went on to earn his law degree from Loyola University, then almost immediately enlisted in the Army. He took part in the World War II invasion of France, earning five battle stars and the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster for Valor. He returned as captain in 1945 to resume his private law practice. Goodstein was active in UCLA and community affairs over the years, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees of the UCLA Foundation, as a member of the Board of Advisors of the UCLA Medical Center, as chairman of the Los Angeles County Arbitrations Committee, and as chairman of the Section on Natural Resources Law.
Goodstein, who died at 88 in 1997, was inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993.
