DAVIS, Calif. - All four top seeds - Southern California, Stanford, UC Berkeley and UCLA - won both their matches to advance to Saturday's semifinals during play Friday in the 1999 Women's Water Polo Collegiate I National Tournament being hosted by UC Davis.

The top-seeded Trojans beat Indiana, 17-2, and UC Santa Barbara, 6-3, in moving to a semifinal matchup with UCLA, the three-time defending champion. The Cardinal, seeded second, will face UC Berkeley in the other semifinal on Saturday.

Only one game went to overtime on the first day of competition when UC Davis beat Massachusetts, 6-5, in four overtimes. The host Aggies later lost to Stanford, 6-1, to fall into the losers' bracket.

The 16-team, double-elimination tournament ends on Sunday with the championship game scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Friday's results at the 1999 Women's Water Polo Collegiate I Nationals being held at UC Davis and Solano College in Suisun, Calif. The championship game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sunday at UCD's Hickey Pool.
