  • Eric Byrnes (1995-98) was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and run scored in Sacramento's 7-5 loss to Edmonton. Since joining Sacramento (tripleA Affiliate of the Oakland A's), Byrnes is batting .424.

  • Eric Karros (1986-88) singled in the winning run with two outs in the 10th inning Tuesday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 5-4 to snap a five-game losing streak. Karros finished the game 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
  • Garrett Atkins (1998-00), playing for Portland, the single-A affiliate for the Colorado Rockies, was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double as Everett defeated Portland 7-2. Atkins is batting .571 (8-14) through three games.
  • Eric Valent (1996-98), playing for Reading, the double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, homered for the ninth time in his last 14 games. His two-run shot in the fifth inning was his 15th homer of the season. Valent was 1-3 with two runs, two RBIs and two walks in the game as Reading defeated Erie 8-6.

Utley, who was the 15th overall selection in the Major League Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, was a first-team selection at second base while Scott, an eighth-round selection by the Milwaukee Brewers, made the first team as an outfielder.
