Top-Ranked UCLA Men's Volleyball Sweeps Manitoba

LOS ANGELES - Top-ranked UCLA swept the University of Manitoba Wednesday night in a men's volleyball exhibition match before several hundred spectators in Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins won 15-8, 15-3, 15-7 in 95 minutes.
Senior opposite Evan Thatcher led the Bruins with 16 kills (.577), followed by senior Ed Ratledge (.786) and freshman Cameron Mount (.529), who each added 11 kills. Freshman Scott Morrow and senior Brandon Taliaferro led UCLA in blocking with three apiece. The Bruins hit .492 as a team, served nine aces and recorded 8.5 blocks.
Manitoba's Steve Brinkman spiked a match-high 20 kills, followed by Sam Watterson, who added 15.
The Bruins (3-0) begin MPSF play this weekend with matches on the road against Pacific (Jan. 21) and Stanford (Jan. 22).
