UCLA

Head Coach Gary Adams

(On today's game) - "Today's game compared to yesterday's game was a real baseball game. I was really proud of how my kids played today. Offense, defense, and pitching were the things that it took to beat a really good Oklahoma team. I really tip my hat to Rocky Cherry, he did really great, as did out pitchers."

Player Josh Karp

(On his performance) - "I kept the ball down, I worked it in and out and my change up was good. Our defense played excellent behind me. I was pitching better out of the stretch today, I had to bear down and get ground balls for key outs."

Player Jon Brandt

(On the need to beat a tough Oklahoma club) - "We know that we have a good team right now. I am a third year guy that came in with 14 other guys. We have always looked at this point in our careers at UCLA as a time we have to step up and get it done. We have been preparing for this for three years."

Garrett Atkins extends his season-high hit streak to 21 straight.
Josh Karp has won his eighth straight game, and eighth in last nine appearances.
Bill Scott, with his three hits today, is just one hit shy of UCLA's single-season record. Scott now has 107 hits this season and the record is 108 by Troy Glans in 1997.
Chase Utley's inside the park home run is the first inside the park homer for the Bruins this season.
Jon Brandt earned his first save of the season this afternoon.

OKLAHOMA

Head Coach Larry Cochell

(On his teams performance) - "We got behind in the first couple of innings, but I thought that Rocky Cherry came in and did a good job stabilizing the game for us and gave us a chance to win. Cherry did an excellent job pitching, I was happy with the way that he swung the bat. That is why he is an outstanding prospect. Our hitters did a good job, we were just trying to make them ground the balls."

(On his pitching staff) - "We never had any intention of starting Austin Mix because of his previous four starts haven't been that great. Logan Cuellar has been doing really good and he did really well today."

Player Rick Park

(On the condition of his elbow) - "It is a little bit sore. They said that I tore a ligament and fractured the bone, that they were worried about me hurting more. I am in a hard cast that allows me to have a little flexibility. The doctors were worried that if I extended my elbow too much then I would hurt it even more. I was hoping that we would come out and I wouldn't have to bat. I knew that if we got into the situation that I would have to bat, that I would just do my best."

Player Rocky Cherry

(On his pitching) - "I was just trying to pitch ground balls and let the defense take care of them. I knew that our hitters would come around and take care of them."

Rocky Cherry's 6.2 innings pitched this afternoon marks his longest outing in relief this season.
Cherry is now one outing shy of tying former sooner pitcher Geoff Geary (1998) for second place on OU's single-season appearance list with 32.
After rattling off at 13-straight games with double-digit hits, the Sooners offense has been held to less than 10 hits in three of the last four games.
