On January 7, the men's basketball team traveled to the City of Hope Cancer Center in Duarte, CA and visited with thirty children that had undergone advanced cancer therapies. The team signed autographs, passed out posters and talked to the children about life as a UCLA student-athlete. Not only did the Bruins make an immediate and life-long impression on this group of youngsters, but the players were equally touched by the experience.
"It was a great time and a very touching experience. I am really looking forward to our next visit," stated freshman forward Andre Patterson.
Head Coach Steve Lavin echoed similar sentiments, "Over the past few years it has been a great honor to visit the City of Hope. Our team's visit is always a highlight of the season for our players and one that they look forward to with great anticipation".
This marks the fifth year that the bruins have been participating in this special visit to the children at City of Hope Cancer Center.
