UCLA Track Announces Early Signees*

In the early signing period, the Bruin men's track team has signed John Caulfield (Pasadena/La Salle HS) and Jeff Jacobs (Coto de Caza/Santa Margarita HS).
John Caulfield (Pasadena/La Salle HS) - Caulfield, ranked No. 60 in the shot put (59-5) on the 2002 national high school list, placed fourth at the CIF Southern Section Master's meet. At the California State Meet, he threw 57-5.5 to finish sixth. Caulfield placed second at Mt. SAC with a throw of 58-10.
Jeff Jacobs (Coto de Caza/Santa Margarita HS) - Jacobs is a quartermile prospect who placed second at the Arcadia Invitational (48.77) and CIF Master's Meet (48.30). He won the CIF Southern Section Division II title in 48.15 and placed second in the 200m. At the California State Championships, he ran a 47.97 in qualifying, the top qualifying time, and finished second in the final (48.06).
