HONOLULU -- On a walk-off home run by Brian Bock, the University of Hawaii Rainbow baseball team (5-5) got the sweep over the UCLA Bruins (7-6) with a 8-7 victory in 10 innings. Matt Le Ducq picked up the win for the Rainbows while Mike Castillo got the loss. There were 2,771 tickets issued for the game at the Les Murakami Stadium.

The Rainbows picked up their first series win of the season with a sweep of the Bruins. Sunday's game was another back-and-forth affair with Hawaii and UCLA answering each others' moves. UH came out first scoring a run in the first and second innings before the Bruins answered with four runs in the top of the third.

Hawaii then retook the lead on a three-run double by Kevin Gilbride in the bottom of the third. After adding another run in the fifth, the Rainbows gave up a two-run blast by Ben Francisco to tie the game again at six. Gregg Omori drove in Brent Cook in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead momentarily before a Bruin sacrifice fly tied the game again in the seventh.

The teams then turned to their closers as Hawaii's Matt Le Ducq and UCLA's David Johnson shut down the opposition for three and 3.1 innings respectively. But in the bottom of the tenth, Brian Bock, the Rainbows' first batter, smacked a solo home run on a 2-1 count to end the game.

Brent Cook continued his impressive play against the Bruins, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. He also led the team in the field with seven assists at third base. Cook ended the series with a .857 batting average with three RBI, three runs scored and a double, while recording a team high 18 assists in the field.

Also hitting well for Hawaii were Gregg Omori and Scooter Martines. Omori went 2-for-5 on the day with an RBI and a run scored, while Martines hit 3-for-5 with two runs scored.

Leading the way for the Bruins was center fielder Ben Francisco, who was just a triple short of hitting for the cycle, hitting 4-for-6. Francisco also drove in three runs while scoring twice. Josh Arhart also hit well, going 3-for-6 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored, while Ryan McCarthy went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
