Los Angeles - In what was by far the Bruins' closest dual match of the 2002 season Tuesday, the third-ranked UCLA men's tennis team needed a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 singles to defeat No. 23 Kentucky, 4-3 at the Louisville Tennis Club.

With the match tied at 3-3, Bruin junior Jean-Julien Rojer defeated Kentucky's Evan Austin, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(2) to keep the Bruins undefeated at 5-0.

Bruin sophomore Tobias Clemens extended his winning streak to 14-straight matches, defeating Karim Benmansour, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.

Friday's match was a warm-up for the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships, Feb. 7-10 also in Louisville. The Bruins and Wildcats will actually play each other again in the first round of the Championships on Thursday.
