The eighth ranked UCLA men's golf team is in first place after two rounds at the Cleveland Golf Classic, hosted by USC at the North Ranch Country Club.

The Bruins posted a second round score of 277, seven under par, to separate themselves from a crowded field atter the morning round. UCLA's total of 566 is two-under par and leads second place Cal by seven shots. San Diego State is third at 574, followed by Stanford at 576 and Fresno State at 578.

Individually, juniors Roy Moon and Steve Conway are first and second, leading an elite group of players. After posting an even par score of 71 in the first round, Moon answered with a four-under par score of 67 in the afternoon and owns a 36-hole total of 138, four-under par. Conway, Jim Seki of Stanford, Alejandro Canizares of ASU and top-ranked Nick Watney of Fresno State are tied for second at 139. Conway posted rounds of 73 and 66. UCLA's John Merrick is tied for ninth at 142, even par, and Travis Johnson is tied for 61st at 150. Freshman Spencer Levin is in 88th place at 155.

Final round action continues Wednesday.
