The UCLA Athletic Department held its fourth annual "Big Dance" at Pauley Pavilion on Tuesday evening. Student-athletes from all 22 of UCLA's intercollegiate athletic teams were on hand for the 80's-themed event, which featured a Supershot competition, karaoke contest and dancing.

First-year athletic director Dan Guerrero kicked off the evening by welcoming the student-athletes.

In the Supershot competition, which awards the three team members who can make a layup, free throw and three pointer the fastest, T'Carra Penick (Track & Field) won her second consecutive Supershot, teaming up this year with Nick Scheftic (Men's Volleyball) and Lisa Willis (Women's Basketball). Scheftic shot the layup/slam dunk, Penick hit the free throw, and Willis was the three-point shooter.

However, in what turned out to be a best-of-three contest following their win, Scheftic/Penick/Willis fell 2 games to 1 against Employee Supershot winners Kat Mertz/Shannon Stephens/Adam Krikorian.

Willis was a double winner at the Big Dance, also taking home top honors in the karaoke competition, along with her freshman classmates Nikki Blue, Ortal Oren, Julia Pitts and Emma Tautolo. The freshmen basketball players sang "Ladies Night " by Lil' Kim, Missy Elliott, Angie Martinez, Da Brat and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes and received a near-perfect score of 29 from celebrity judges Don MacLean, Liz Masakayan and Ken Norton, Jr. Women's basketball has won the karaoke trophy twice in the competition's three-year history.

Jeanette Antolin (Women's Gymnastics), Michelle Greco (Women's Basketball), Jon Dubravac (Football) and Scott Morrow (Men's Volleyball) were each awarded the C.H.A.M.P.S. Inspirational Award, given annually to a male and female student-athlete who has overcome personal adversity, injury or illness while achieving athletic success.

Also on Tuesday, the women's rowing team was crowned champion of the Gold Cup for the second consecutive year for its attendance at selected UCLA sporting events.

Tuesday's event was sponsored by the Bruin Athletic Council in conjunction with the UCLA Athletic Department.
