SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UCLA Women's Water Polo team defeated No. 10 Hawaii 10-5 for their second victory over the Rainbow Wahine this season. The Bruins defeated Pacific 14-3 earlier in the day and with their win over Hawaii will advance to the tournament's semifinal game against Stanford at 11:30 AM tomorrow, February 29th. Sophomore Kristina Kunkel led all Bruin scorers with six goals tying a UCLA women's water polo record for goals in a game (last year Natalie Golda scored six goals against LMU in the Gaucho Tournament).

The first period would be a tightly contested contest, with UCLA holding a slight 4-3 lead over Hawaii after one. In the second period the teams would exchange goals and the Bruins would take a 5-4 lead going into the half. Though the Bruins would score twice in the third period, Hawaii would not go away, adding a goal of their own to remain within two goals at 7-5. However in the fourth period UCLA would pull away outscoring Hawaii 3-0 to earn the 10-5 victory.

Kristina Kunkel scored six times for the Bruins with Katherine Belden, Katie Flanagan, Brittney Bowlus and Molly Cahill each scoring once.
