
No. 11 UCLA Falls to No. 6 Vanderbilt, 5-2

Madison, Wis. - The No. 11-ranked UCLA women's tennis team fell to No. 6 Vanderbilt, 5-2 Saturday in a consolation match at the 2004 USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin. UCLA falls to 2-3 on the season with the loss.
Vanderbilt swept the Bruins in doubles play, winning on all three courts. In singles action, the Bruins managed two victories, as Jackie Carleton battled back for a 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 decision over Audra Falk at the No. 1 position. At the No. 5 spot, junior Lauren Fisher posted a straight-set victory over Ashley Schellhas, winning 6-3, 6-3.
Feriel Esseghir, Alex McGoodwin, Sarah Gregg and Laura Gordon all dropped singles matches Saturday.
Next up for UCLA will be UC Irvine on Feb. 12 and Fresno State on Feb. 13. Both matches are at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
