Metzger and Holdren Fall to Brazilian Pair

The U.S. team of Stein Metzger (UCLA '96) and Dax Holdren lost its final preliminary match to Brazil's duo of Emanuel Rego and Ricardo Santos in the Beach Volleyball competition of the Athens Olympics. Rego and Santos won, 21-17, 21-10 to advance undefeated into the medal round. The U.S. pair, which finished second in its pool, also advanced. "We tried to use a different offense tonight, but it didn't work," said Metzger. "Their defense really took advantage of our weaknesses."
