Athens, Greece - The United States women's water polo team, including six current or former Bruins and former UCLA head coach Guy Baker, earned a Bronze Medal on Thursday in Athens, defeating Australia by a score of 6-5. UCLA also had athletes in action at the track and field venue.
Women's Track
Amy Acuff advanced to the finals of the high jump (scheduled for Saturday) after clearing a height of 1.95 in the preliminaries. Monique Henderson is a member of the 4x400m relay pool which is scheduled for tomorrow.
Women's Water Polo
The United States experienced another late-game scare, but the U.S. women ended their 2004 Olympic run with a trip to the medal podium, winning bronze with a 6-5 win over Australia at the Olympic Aquatic Centre Main Pool on Thursday (August 26). UCLA players Natalie Golda, Amber Stachowski, and Robin Beauregard each scored to contribute three of the team's six goals. For a complete recap, click HERE.
