Saturday's 13-9 win over USC is one of the great moments in the long history of the UCLA football program. Senior linebacker Eric McNeal's interception put an exclamation point on a dominant performance by the defensive unit and gave Bruin fans citywide bragging rights for at least 364 days. The Bruins have great momentum now heading into the December 27th showdown against Florida State in the Emerald Bowl. UCLA also takes a commanding 30-5 lead in the Lexus Gauntlet competition with USC.

The UCLA men's soccer team fell 2-1 to UCSB in the national title game in St. Louis over the weekend. Coach Jorge Salcedo and his staff did a tremendous job getting the Bruins to the final game and they are to be commended for a brilliant season. UCLA continues to search for the 100th national championship in school history.
The next likely contender for a national title is the UCLA women's volleyball team. With a win over Utah this weekend, UCLA advances to the NCAA Regional Semifinals for the fourth-straight year and seventh time in the last eight years. The fourth-seeded Bruins will join #5 seed USC, #12 seed Hawaii and #13 seed Oklahoma in the Honolulu regional. UCLA will face OU while USC and Hawaii will face off in the round of 16 next Friday, with the winners meeting on Saturday.
The men's basketball team will be ranked #1 in both polls when the rankings come out this week. The battle against #9 Texas A&M at the Wooden Classic this Saturday in Anaheim, should be a great test. Here are some interesting stats on UCLA and the #1 ranking:
Historically, UCLA has been ranked #1 for 130 weeks (20 weeks longer than second-place Duke) UCLA has played 248 games as the #1 rated team (234-14 record as #1) The last time UCLA was ranked #1 was the final poll of the 1995 season.
