Sophomore John Caulfield placed 11th overall in the shot put with a throw of 60-00.25 on day one of the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, AR.

Senior Craig Everhart and junior Brandon Johnson had a disappointing day in the 400m as both failed to advance to the finals in that event. Johnson, who came into the meet with the fourth-fastest time in the nation (46.40), finished 13th overall with a time of 47.61. Everhart, who had the No. 10 time in the nation, placed 11th, running 46.84.

"Today was absolutely disappointing," said Sprint Coach Tony Veney. "Hopefully these guys can regroup and move on to fight with their teammates for a National title in the 4x400m on Saturday."

Everhart and Johnson, along with sophomore James Rhoades and freshman Elijah Wells will compete on Saturday in the 4x400m relay. They currently hold the No. 3 time in the nation, 3:06.48.
