Sophomore forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (Yaounde, Cameroon/ Montverde Academy) of the UCLA men's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 29-Feb. 4.
Mbah a Moute led the Bruins to a 2-0 week with a sweep of the Oregon schools at home last week. He had his third double-double of the season (11th of his career) with 15 points and 12 rebounds in UCLA's 69-57 win over #9 Oregon (Feb. 1). He was perfect from the field (6-for-6) against the Ducks and added a career-high tying four blocks to go along with his four steals and two assists in 31 minutes. In the blowout win over Oregon State, Mbah a Moute was again perfect from the field (6-for-6), including making his only three-point attempt. He had 14 points and seven rebounds and only played 21 minutes. For the week, he was perfect from the field (100 percent, 12-for-12) and made his only three-pointer. He averaged 14.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 assists.
This is Mbah a Moute's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
