UCLA Team Notes

UCLA leads the series with Oregon, 39-22; the Bruins even their record against Oregon at the Rose Bowl to 6-6; UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell is now 2-2 versus Oregon.

UCLA's 16-0 victory marks the first shutout in the series between both schools since UCLA blanked Oregon, 35-0, in Eugene, Ore., on Nov. 17, 1979.

UCLA handed Oregon its first shutout since Sept. 28, 1985 - a 63-0 loss at Nebraska.

UCLA has become bowl eligible for the eighth consecutive season.

Today's game marked Oregon's first game at the Rose Bowl since 2003 - the Bruins and Ducks have split six of the last 12 meetings at the Rose Bowl (including today's game).

UCLA limited Oregon to 43 rushing yards, marking the fifth time this season that the Bruins have held their opponent to under 100 yards on the ground.

UCLA allowed 148 total yards, the second-fewest yards allowed by UCLA's defense this season (allowed 140 yards to Notre Dame on Oct. 6).

UCLA has now won five of its last six home games played against AP-ranked opponents - UCLA previously defeated #9/10 California in 2007, #2 USC in 2006, #10 Cal in 2005, and #21 Oklahoma in 2005.

UCLA has broken its average attendance record (dating back to 1940) - the Bruins averaged 76,379 fans in six home games this season, breaking the school record of 73,709 set in 1998.

UCLA has had seven consecutive home games in the Rose Bowl with over 70,000 fans in attendance (72,434 today; 78,690 vs. Arizona State on Nov. 10, 2007; 83,494 vs. Cal on Oct. 20, 2007; 78,543 vs. Notre Dame on Oct. 6, 2007; 72,124 vs. Washington on Sept. 22, 2007; 72,986 vs. BYU on Sept. 8, 2007; and 90,622 vs. USC on Dec. 2, 2006). This is the first time since the Bruins moved to the Rose Bowl in 1982 that UCLA has opened the season with six straight games with over 70,000 in attendance.

UCLA Individual Notes

Senior tailback Chris Markey gained 91 yards, moving into ninth place on UCLA's career rushing list (2,567 yards), passing Maurice Drew's total of 2,503 yards.

Markey recorded 99 all-purpose yards (91 rushing yards, eight kick return yards), moving into fourth place on the school's career all-purpose yardage list (4,035 yards) - Markey passed Theotis Brown (3,944 yards) and DeShaun Foster (4,028 yards).

Redshirt freshman kicker Kai Forbath's 54-yard field goal in the first quarter is the third longest in UCLA history; Forbath's field goal stands as the longest by a Bruin at the Rose Bowl.

Forbath joins Justin Medlock (2004) as the only Bruins to kick three field goals of 50+ yards in one season.

Forbath kicked three field goals, bringing his season total to 22 and breaking Bjorn Merten's freshman record of 21, set in 1993; Forbath's 22 field goals are tied for third-most on UCLA's single-season list with John Lee.

Forbath tied his career-high with three field goals (also kicked three vs. Washington and vs. California).

Sophomore cornerback Alterraun Verner and senior cornerback Trey Brown each recorded their team-leading fourth interceptions.

Senior free safety Dennis Keyes registered his third interception of the season in the third quarter; the interception was his fourth career pickoff.

Sophomore defensive end Chinonso Anyanwu registered his first career sack in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore tailback Craig Sheppard's 21-yard touchdown run in the
fourth quarter marked the longest run of his career and his second career touchdown.

Senior wide receiver Brandon Breazell's two catches for 50 yards moved him up to 19th on UCLA's career receiving yards list with 1,414 yards.
