Happy New Year!

2008 is barely a week old and there's already a lot of news coming from Westwood. It began on New Year's Eve with the press conference to announce the hiring of UCLA alum Rick Neuheisel as head football coach. Since that announcement, Rick has been hard at work assembling his staff and going about the business of making UCLA a national powerhouse in football. We're pleased to report that Defensive Coordinator DeWayne Walker will be a part of the new staff as will former UCLA receiver Reggie Moore. Expect more announcements on this front in the days to come.

Men's and women's basketball also started the year on the right foot. Men's basketball swept the Bay Area schools, Stanford and Cal and staked themselves to a 2-0 start in Pac-10 play with the Washington schools coming to Westwood this weekend. Saturday's matchup against #4 Washington State should be a good one.

Meanwhile, women's basketball upset #2 Stanford at Pauley Pavilion and fell just short of doing the same against #10 Cal and the 4th ranked UCLA gymnastics team won the Lady Luck Invitational in Las Vegas defeating Pac-10 foes Oregon State and Arizona State.

It's a great time to be involved with UCLA Athletics and we thank you for your support. If we can assist you an any way, please don't hesitate to call on us.
