Junior Boldizsar Kocsor finished second in the invitational section of the hammer, while sophomore Matt Reuter stands in third-place after day one of the decathlon at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational.
Kocsor was the top collegiate finisher in the event with a mark of 210-6, while former Cal State Bakersfield NCAA champion Arnaldo Cueto won the event with a throw of 220-4.
Reuter is on pace for a new lifetime-best in the 10-event competition as he posted a day one score of 3420 points (lifetime-best for first five events). Reuter started the day in the 100m with a time of 11.63 (7th, 725 pts.). He was fourth in the long jump (21-3.50/695 pts.) and then equaled his lifetime-best in the shot put with a mark of 35-11.50 (3rd, 543 pts.). In the high jump, Reuter cleared 6-3.50 for second-place (731 pts.) and then ended the day with a third-place run in the 400m with a time of 51.97 (694 pts.).
Competition continues on Friday with the final five events of the decathlon and the open section of the RJ/JJK Invite.
