In an Olympic tune-up in Hong Kong, the U.S. men's soccer Olympic team tied Ivory Coast, 0-0, in the opening match of the ING Cup on Wednesday. UCLA alums Marvell Wynne, Benny Feilhaber and Patrick Ianni all saw action in the game.
Wynne, a defender, started and played all 90 minutes. Feilhaber started the second half in midfield, and Ianni came into the game in the final minutes to replace midfielder Michael Bradley. Ivory Coast outshot the U.S., 7-3, but U.S. goalkeeper Brad Guzan made four saves to preserve the shutout.
The U.S. will next face Cameroon in its second match of the tournament on Aug. 2.
