Samantha Peszek Earns Pac-10 Honors

UCLA freshman gymnast Samantha Peszek was honored by the Pac-10 Conference with the Special Performance of the Week award for Feb. 7-13.
In her collegiate debut, Peszek scored a 9.9 to tie for first place on uneven bars at the IGI/Chicago Style. Peszek, who has not competed on bars in a meet since the 2008 Olympics, was originally scheduled to just do an exhibition routine on bars, but was placed in the lineup after warm-ups and hit a 9.9. Her score helped the Bruins record a season-high 49.275 on the event. She had missed all five of UCLA's previous meets this season after suffering a foot fracture in early January.
The Special Performance of the Week nod is Peszek's first of her career and UCLA's 13th all-time.
Also receiving weekly honors was Arizona's Deanna Graham, who earned Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week honors for the first time in her career.
