Taylor Opens Up Outdoor Season With Big Discus Throw

Thrower Bo Taylor opened up his senior outdoor season on a high note as he threw just off of his lifetime-best in the discus to win at the Northridge Invitational. Taylor, who's lifetime-best is 187-11, posted a mark of 185-2 in his first discus competition of the season. He won the event by nearly 14 feet.
Junior Taylor Hobson had a strong opener in the high jump as he cleared 6-10.75 to win. Junior Nelson Rosario was third in the long jump with a leap of 23-11.50. In the javelin, sophomore David Thomas posted a lifetime-best of 190-6 to finish fourth overall.
In the pole vault, senior Casey DiCesare won with a clearance of 17-0.75. Teammate Greg Woepse was second, also with a clearance of 17-0.75.
In running events, sophomore David McDonald won the 3000m in a time of 8:35.43. Senior Jake Matthews was second with a time of 8:36.81. In the 1500m, sophomore Alec Govi was second overall with a lifetime-best run of 3:52.65. Senior Brian Law posted the No. 2 time on the day in the 400m hurdles (53.28).
The Bruins will continue the indoor season next weekend (Mar. 18-19) when they head to San Diego to compete in the Aztec Invitational.
