Clark Places 9th In Triple Jump At NCAAs

Jonathan Clark capped off his Bruin career on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, IA as the senior finished ninth overall in the triple jump competition. He misses a scoring position by the slimmest of margins - a fraction of an inch. He will earn USTFCCCA second-team All-America honors with today's finish.
Clark opened up his triple jump competition with a big first attempt of 52-10.75 and moved into eighth-place after round one. His second round jump was not an improvement (52-2.50) and he ended the round still in eighth-place. On his final jump of prelims, Clark posted a mark of 50-9.25 and had to wait for the rest of the flight to finish up before his spot in the finals would be secure. Clark's mark held up and he moved into finals ninth overall.
His first jump in the finals was a foul, leaving him standing in ninth-place. Clark posted a fifth round jump of 52-2.50 and continued to stand in ninth overall. On his final attempt, he posted a mark of 51-00.75 to end the competition ninth overall.
Final team scores will be updated after the completion of the final day of NCAA. The Bruin men scored seven points during the meet behind Alec Faldermeyer's fifth-place finish in the hammer and Cory Primm's sixth-place finish in the 800m. They finished 37th overall, while Texas A&M won the team title.
