Matkowski to Play in Olympic Doubles Event

LOS ANGELES - Former UCLA men's tennis player Marcin Matkowski was officially selected to compete in the men's doubles draw at the upcoming London Olympic Games on Tuesday, as the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced its full list of entries for the tennis event, which is scheduled to run from July 8-August 5 at The All England Club, Wimbledon.
Matkowski and partner Mariusz Fyrstenberg will be representing Poland in the 32-team doubles draw. It marks the second Olympic Games for the Polish duo, as they reached the quarterfinals in Beijing in 2008. Matkowski and Fyrstenberg make up one of the top doubles teams in the world and are certainly favored to win a medal in London. The two players are currently seeded No. 3 in the men's doubles draw at Wimbledon, which began on Monday.
Matkowski was a three-year letterwinner at UCLA from 2001-03, earning All-America honors in both singles and doubles. He turned professional following his junior season.
