TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 3 UCLA women's water polo team (16-2) opens up 2013 MPSF play at No. 4 Arizona State (11-3) on Saturday, March 2 at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz. The game is slated for the opening sprint to take place at 1:00 p.m. MT./12:00 p.m. PT.
BRUINS AMONG MPSF SCORING LEADERS
Sophomore attacker Alexa Tielmann are tied for third on the team and 27th in the MPSF with 16 goals (0.9 goals per game).
IN THE CAGE
Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper, Sami Hill, is off to a great start in 2013 and is currently second in the MPSF in saves per game at 11.31. She is also third in the MPSF in goals against, giving up 5.62 per game. Hill also is second on the team with 20 assists and is third on the squad with 14 steals.
FEMME FATTAL
True freshman Rachel Fattal leads the Bruins in steals (21), sprints won (22) and field blocks (11) and is second in scoring (34 goals) and third in assists (16).
HILL ON THE ASSIST
Freshman attacker Kodi Hill leads the Bruins with 21 assists on the year. Hill also has seven goals, 10 steals and is second on the squad with five field blocks on the year.
BROOKS ON DECK FOR YEAR FOUR
Brandon Brooks is in his fourth season as UCLA's head women's water polo coach in 2013. He was named the third head coach in program history on June 3, 2009, and has compiled a 87-21 (.806) record.
SCOUTING ARIZONA STATE
The Arizona State Sun Devils (11-3 Overall/0-0 MPSF) won both games on day one of the UC Irvine Invitational, topping CS Northridge, 11-6, and No. 4 California, 8-7. E.B. Keeve recorded 14 saves in each of these wins, totaling 49 in the four games. The fourth-place finish is the best all-time for ASU at the UCI Tournament. The Sun Devils get a quick rematch with UCLA from the third-place game, hosting the Bruins to begin MPSF action Saturday.
