Four-year varsity baseball letterwinner at South Hills High School under head coach Kevin Smith... secured CIF Southern Section Division III Player of the Year honors as a senior (2009)...named South Hills' team MVP in 2009...was a two-time first-team All-San Antonio League selection and two-time first-team All-Valley honoree (junior and senior seasons)...went 10-2 with a 1.35 ERA in 72.0 innings as a senior...posted a 5-1 record and 1.19 ERA in 40.0 innings as a junior...was elevated to the varsity team late in the season as a freshman and sophomore...completed his high school career with a 15-3 record at the varsity level, including a 1.27 ERA in 112.0 innings...helped lead South Hills to the 2009 CIF Division III title over Beckman High School in a game played at Angel Stadium; pitched a complete game to earn the win, scattering six hits while walking three batters and striking out three.
