UCLA Notes – Utah 30, UCLA 28 – Oct. 4, 2014

**Redshirt junior quarterback Brett Hundley made his 32nd career start for UCLA, tying for the fourth-most starts for a quarterback in school history (Cory Paus, 1999-2003).

**Hundley threw a touchdown pass for the 28th time in 32 games and multiple scores for the 21st time.

**The 93-yard touchdown score in the fourth quarter from Hundley to junior wide receiver Devin Fuller tied for the second-longest play from scrimmage in UCLA history (95-yard passing touchdown J.J. Stokes from Wayne Cook, 1993 vs. Washington; 93-yard rushing touchdown Chuck Cheshire, 1934 vs. Montana; 93-yard passing touchdown Ransom Livesay from Mike Frankovich, 1932 vs. Oregon).

**The Hundley-Fuller hook up was the longest touchdown reception for the Bruins since 2005 against Arizona State when Joe Cowan caught a 91-yard touchdown reception from Drew Olson. It was also the longest career pass completion for Hundley and the longest career catch for Fuller.

**The third-quarter touchdown run by sophomore defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes was the second offensive touchdown by a defensive player this season. Sophomore linebacker Myles Jack scored on a four-yard touchdown run against Memphis on Sept. 6.

**Redshirt junior Devin Lucien caught a pass for the 10th-straight game, while junior Jordan Payton had a reception for the eighth-straight contest.

**Redshirt senior Eric Kendricks had a game-high 11 tackles and has led the Bruins in tackles in each game. It is the 19th double-figure tackle game of his career. Kendricks has 390 career tackles, moving him into fourth place on UCLA's all-time list.

**The sack for freshman defensive back Jaleel Wadood was the first of his career.

**Redshirt senior Owamagbe Odighizuwa had a career-best four tackles for loss.

**Tonight's attendance was 74,329. It marks the first time since 2007 that UCLA has had 70,000+ crowds in each of the first two games of a season.

Utah Notes - Utah 30, UCLA 28 - Oct. 4, 2014

Utah last upset a top-10 team in 2013, beating fifth-ranked Stanford, 27-21. Utah is 5-16 all-time against teams ranked in the Associated Press top 10.

Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham picked up his 80th career victory with the win. Whittingham is 80-40 in his 10th season. He has participated in 165 wins in 21 total years on Utah's staff, which includes 10 years as an assistant coach.

UCLA has been ranked in six meetings against the Utes and Utah is 2-4 in those games. Eighth is the highest that UCLA has been ranked during those six meetings.

Utah begins the Pac-12 campaign 1-1. Utah started Pac-12 play 0-2 in its first three seasons in the league. 

The Utah defense recorded 10 sacks, which is tied for the second-most in a game at Utah. Utah last had 10 sacks in a game against UTEP in 1983. Utah's 13 tackles for loss is the most since recording 14 TFL against New Mexico in 2010.

Lowell Lotulelei (defensive line), Salesi Uhatafe (offensive line) and Devontae Booker (running back) each made their first career starts. Andre Godfrey made his first career appearance.

After entering at quarterback on Utah's fourth drive of the game, Kendal Thompson started the game 8-for-8 (83 yards) before his first incompletion, missing his second throw of the second half. He was 7-for-7 (68 yards) in the first half. Thompson ended the game 10-for-13 for 95 yards, including his second touchdown pass of the season (42 yards to Dres Anderson). Thompson also had 83 yards rushing (19 carries).

Dres Anderson became the fifth receiver in school history with 2,000 career yards, pulling in two catches for 38 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown catch. Anderson has 2,012 career receiving yards. He has 17 career touchdown catches, tied for sixth-most in school history.

Kaelin Clay tied for the team lead with 38 yards receiving (five catches).

Devontae Booker had his second-straight 100-yard game with 156 yards (33 carries). He scored a six-yard touchdown in the third quarter, his team-leading fourth rushing touchdown of the season.

Andy Phillips made a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter and hit field goals of 45 and 29 yards in the fourth quarter. He is 7-for-9 this season from 40+ yards and 16-of-20 in his career. Phillips also completed a successful onside kick in the first quarter and is 3-for-3 in onside kicks in his career (he also had an onside kick against UCLA last season). Phillips is 10-for-12 in field goals this season. 

Tom Hackett placed punts at the 5, 6, 8 and 11 yard lines during the game. He has 11 punts inside the 10-yard line this season (29 career). Hackett averaged 49.2 yards on eight punts with four punts of 50+ yards (long of 59 yards).

Nate Orchard tied the school record for sacks in a game with four. Four sacks has also been done by five other players, including current Utah cornerback coach Sharrieff Shah (vs. Oregon State in 1991) and Paul Kruger of the NFL's Cleveland Browns (vs. Utah State in 2008). Orchard led Utah with a career-high 11 tackles.

Jared Norris had his fourth career double-digit tackle game with 10 tackles.

Tevin Carter had his second career interception in the first quarter, scoring his first career touchdown with a 27-yard return. Utah has two interception returns for touchdowns this year (Eric Rowe also scored against Washington State).
