No. 9 UCLA Rowing Completes Opening Races at NCAA Championships

UCLA's second varsity eight advanced to a semifinal race Saturday with a second-place finish on Friday morning, posting a time of 6:34.768 behind Virginia (6:32.021).
The Bruins' varsity eight and varsity four crews each finished third in their opening heat and competed again on Friday in repechage races. In Friday morning's races, the varsity eight posted a time of 6:31.291, behind California and Princeton, respectively. UCLA's varsity four crew finished behind California and Virginia, respectively, recording a time of 7:28.542.
UCLA's varsity eight finished third out of four boats in the afternoon repechage race and will compete in a C/D semifinal on Saturday. The top two boats in each repechage advance to Saturday's A/B semifinals. The Bruins posted a time of 6:32.478, finishing behind USC and Harvard, respectively.
The Bruins' varsity four crew finished third in its repechage race, clocking in with a time of 7:33.652. UCLA finished behind Indiana and Princeton, respectively, in a seven-boat heat. The varsity four will compete in a C/D semifinal race on Saturday.
Racing times on Saturday for UCLA's three boats are as follows: varsity eight (V8+) at 8:30 a.m. ET, second varsity eight (2V8+) at 9:30 a.m. ET, and varsity four (V4+) at 10:00 a.m. ET. The second varsity eight will compete in the A/B semifinals.
