The Bruins won their final game of group play on Sunday morning, beating No. 13 Indiana, 11-4, but lost in the championship match 10-6 to top-ranked Stanford.
UCLA completed play with a 9-1 overall record.
In the championship match, the Bruins fell behind by three goals at halftime after the Cardinal scored four times in the second period. A third quarter rally by the Bruins narrowed the gap to one goal, but the Cardinal shut down the UCLA offense in the final quarter to pull away.
Anna Yelizarova scored the first of her three goals to give Stanford a 1-0 lead before UCLA sophomore Mackenzie Barr equalized at 3:52 of the first period. Dani Jackovich of Stanford gave the hosts a 2-1 lead entering the second period.
Yelizarova scored another exclusion goal to open the second period, but the Bruins' Alys Williams kept the Bruins close with her first goal of the game. Goals by Stanford's Gupreet Sohi and Rachel Johnson gave the hosts a 5-2 lead before UCLA senior Emily Donohoe scored to make it 5-3. Yelizarova scored on a penalty to give the Cardinal a 6-3 lead at the break.
The Bruins climbed back into it in the third quarter, scoring three times on goals by Donohoe, Kodi Hill and Barr after Stanford's Ashley Grossman had given the hosts a four-goal lead (7-3) at 5:17 of the third.
Trailing by one (7-6) entering the final period, the Bruins couldn't muster any offense while the Cardinal pulled away with three goals.
In the first game against Indiana, two goals by Williams and one by senior Emily Donohoe broke a 3-3 tie in the second period to give the Bruins a 6-3 halftime lead. After intermission, UCLA limited the Hoosiers to one goal and scored five, including three in the fourth period. UCLA goal scorers after halftime were Williams, Fattal, Donohoe, Ferraro and Grab. Goalkeeper Sami Hill added 10 saves.
