Harrison Advances to Rd of 32

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- UCLA senior Catherine Harrison advances to the round of 32 at the 2015 USTA/ITA Southwest Regionals after ousting UCSB's Jaimee Gilbertson in Thursday's round of 64. The first-seeded Bruin won in straights after a first round bye.
Harrison will face Arizona's Kinga Gartner on Friday morning at 10:15. Gartner won both of her Thursday matches in straight sets.
Also playing in San Diego is UCLA sophomore Kristin Wiley, who beat USD's Marisa Marsh, 6-0, 6-0, in Thursday's first round of action. Wiley faced second-seeded Madison Westby of USC in the round of 64, where she fell in a tight three-set match.
Doubles play will begin for Harrison and Wiley on Friday. The sixth-seeded Bruin pair earned a bye in the round of 64 on Thursday. The duo will face Cindy Nguyen and Roxanne Resma of Hawai'i at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning in the round of 32.
