
Brandon Crawford Earns Gold Glove

Former UCLA infielder and current San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford was named the National League Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner at his position, it was announced today. This is the first Gold Glove Award of Crawford's career.
Crawford is just the second player in UCLA history to earn a Gold Glove Award, joining Chris Chambliss who earned the 1978 American League Gold Glove Award at first base with the New York Yankees.
This season, Crawford posted a career-high .979 fielding percentage, making just 13 errors in 631 total chances. The Mountain View, Calif. native turned a career-best 89 double plays (fifth in the NL) and recorded 427 assists (second in the NL) and 191 putouts (fourth in the NL).
Contributing both in the field and at the plate, Crawford had his best season as a pro, earning his first MLB All-Star selection this year. Playing in 143 games, Crawford hit .256 and finished first on the team in homeruns (21) and second in RBI (84).
