Bruins to Play in Collegiate Cup

November 03, 2015 | Women's Water Polo

IRVINE, Calif. – The UCLA women's water polo team hits the pool this weekend when it competes in the annual Collegiate Cup.  The 2015 NCAA runners-up will be joined by some of the top teams in women's college water polo, including USC, California, Arizona State, Hawaii, UC Irvine, Long Beach State, and Michigan.

The 2015 Collegiate Cup takes place Nov. 7-8 at the William Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif.  Tickets for the two-day event will be available at the door for $15.  For a complete Collegiate Cup schedule, click here.

In addition to Collegiate Cup action, the USA Women's National Team will take part in its first match since winning gold at the FINA World Championship last summer.  The match will take place against China at 6:30 p.m. PST following the completion of day one of the Collegiate Cup.  Tickets for that match will be available at the door for $10.

Rachel Fattal and Alys Williams, both red-shirting this season, will join former Bruins Courtney Mathewson (2008), Sami Hill (2015), and KK Clark (2012) on the National Team roster.  Hill, a recent graduate, helped the Bruins to NCAA Championship runner-up finishes in 2014 and 2015 and racked up 32 saves in the 2015 Pan American Games en route to Team USA's gold medal. Fattal was named the 2015 FINA World Championship Most Valuable Player after leading Team USA to a gold medal with 18 goals.
