UCLA standout and LPGA rookie Alison Lee was named to the United States' Solheim Cup team on Sunday.
Lee (above photo courtesy Getty Images) earned her spot by virtue of her world ranking of #29, the highest-ranked American player in the Rolex Rankings who hadn't already qualified.
While this is her first time on the team, it isn't Lee's first association with the Solheim Cup. She was on the Junior Solheim Cup team in each of the last three contests (2009, 2011, 2013), helping lead the USA to victories all three times. She also played in the 2014 Curtis Cup, posting a 3-1-1 record.
In her first season on tour, Lee has earned just under $500,000, ranking 20th on the money list (as of Aug. 23). She has five Top 10 finishes, including a third at the Kingsmill Championship in May and a T-5 showing in last week's Canadian Pacific Women's Open.
Lee is the second Bruin to be named to a Solheim Cup team. Ryann O'Toole earned a spot on the 2011 squad.
The Solheim Cup matches against the team from Europe will take place in Germany from Sept. 18-20.
