LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The ninth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team is back in action after handing then No. 6 Georgia a 6-1 loss last weekend, which ousted the Bulldogs from the top 10 in the ITA Team Rankings released Wednesday.  The Bruins host No. 16 San Diego at 3 p.m. on Friday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. 

Last time out, UCLA (4-0) dominated Georgia in both doubles and singles play.  The Bruins took an early 1-0 lead after earning the doubles point.  On court 1, Mackenzie McDonald and Martin Redlicki made quick work of the No. 10 pair in the country in Georgia's Austin Smith and Ben Wagland.  Gage Brymer and Austin Rapp clinched the point for the Bruins on court 3 when they edge the 45th-ranked duo of Wayne Montgomery and Emil Reinberg. 

In singles, Joseph Di Giulio and Karue Sell took their respective matches in straights on courts 6 and 4 to give UCLA a 3-0 lead.  McDonald, the Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for action during the week of Jan. 25-31, sealed the deal for the Bruins on court 1.  After dropping the first set to No. 28 Smith, McDonald battled back to win the second.  The junior took the three-setter on an ace serve and gave UCLA an insurmountable 4-0 lead. 

Scouting San Diego 

The Toreros (4-0) took last week off after traveling to Durham, N.C. and defeating No. 26 Vanderbilt and No. 23 Duke during the ITA Kickoff-Weekend.  It is the first time USD has qualified for the Team National Indoor Championships after participating in the kick-off.

Three Toreros are ranked nationally in singles:  Jordan Angus (#34), Uros Petronijevic (#35), and Romain Kalaydjian (#82).  In doubles, USD boasts a top-10 pair in Angus and Filip Vittek (#7).
