Twenty-one freshmen and transfer football student-athletes attended the Ninth Annual Etiquette Dinner on Feb. 25, hosted by the Academic and Student Services unit in the Department of Athletics.
The student-athletes were joined by several members of the athletic department's administration and staff, Bruin Football alumni, and members of campus administration and faculty. Associate Athletic Director - Sports & Administration Ashley Armstrong and Associate Director of Academic and Student Services Ric Coy presented a program detailing appropriate dinner etiquette manners, including social behavior, suitable dress attire and guidelines for formal introductions.
After the presentation, the student-athletes were given the opportunity to put these guidelines into practice during a formal four-course meal. During the course of the evening, the student-athletes were given an opportunity to network and socialize with alumni, administration and staff members in attendance.
“The etiquette dinner gave me more confidence on what to expect at formal dinners,” said freshman JJ Molson.
The student-athletes were presented with valuable professional and social techniques with the help of many respected members of the UCLA community.
As freshman Breland Brandt said, “The etiquette dinner was an empowering experience.”
