UCLA Rowing Hosts SDSU This Saturday

The UCLA women's rowing team competes Saturday morning against SDSU.

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's rowing team opens its spring season against San Diego State this Saturday morning in Marina del Rey, Calif., at the UCLA boathouse.

The Bruins will race three eights and one four crew on Saturday, with the third varsity eight race scheduled to kick off the morning's action at 8 a.m.

Ensuing races that morning include the varsity four (8:15 a.m.), the second varsity eight (8:30 a.m.) and the varsity eight (8:45 a.m.). Short pieces from the varsity eight and second varsity eight will compete between 9-9:30 a.m. In addition, a parent/alumnae row is scheduled during the 10:00 a.m. hour.

UCLA has qualified for the NCAA Championship as a team in four of the last six seasons, most recently posting a 12th-place finish at the national tournament in 2014.

The Bruins race in Ballona Creek, located in Marina del Rey just west of the 90 freeway. From the 405 freeway, take the 90 West until it ends and turn left to Mindanao. From Mindanao, make a left on Lincoln Blvd before turning right to Fiji Way.

UCLA's boathouse at the Marina Aquatic Center is located at 14001 Fiji Way in Marina del Rey (zip code: 90292). Parking at the boathouse is not available on race days, however spectators can park off Fiji Way at the Fisherman's Village (five minute walk from boathouse) and at Dock 52 (15 minute walk from boathouse).
