LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The sixth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team is back in action this week when it hosts No. 55 Brigham Young on Thursday.  The match is slated for 2:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. 

Although UCLA remained at No. 6 in the ITA team rankings out Tuesday, the Bruins made moves in singles and doubles.  Cracking the top 10 in singles, junior Mackenzie McDonald jumped from No. 19 to ninth after downing No. 65 Max de Vroome of USC in straight sets last week.  Senior Karue Sell improved to No. 93 with his match-clinching win over No. 92 Jake DeVine of USC.  Despite edging No. 56 Logan Smith in a tight three setter, junior Gage Brymer slipped to No. 72.  With his loss to No. 67 Nick Crystal, sophomore Martin Redlicki fell to No. 57. 

In doubles, McDonald and Redlicki are ranked fourth after suffering a loss to USC's Crystal and Laurens Verboven, 6-4, in last week's crosstown clash.    

Scouting the Cougars       

BYU (11-2) is looking to rebound from last week's loss to No. 70 New Mexico.  After dropping the doubles point for only the third time this season, the Cougars fell 4-3 to the Lobos.  Shane Monroe leads the Cougars with an 11-0 dual match record.  Monroe is 7-0 playing at the top of the lineup.  Keaton Cullimore has spent time in the top two spots, compiling a 10-2 mark, while Andrey Goryachkov is 10-2 at singles No. 3.

UCLA is 17-0 all-time against BYU.  Last time out, the Bruins coasted past the Cougars, 6-1, in the 2012 season opener.  Live scoring for the match is available here.
