SAN FRANCISCO - Senior Jonathan Garrick and freshman Cole Madey were honored by the Pac-12 Conference on Wednesday. Garrick was named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team, while Madey was recognized on the All-Freshman Team.
Garrick, who earned his third All-Pac-12 honor (First Team last year, Second Team in 2014), leads the Bruins in scoring average (71.8). Of his 31 rounds, 15 have been under par and 11 have been in the 60's, as all of his rounds have counted for the UCLA team score. Garrick has five Top 10's, including a win at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate (Oct. 4-6) when he shot a 10-under 206 and posted all three rounds in the 60's. He finished fourth at the Gifford Collegiate (Nov. 2-4, 210, -3), T-5 at the Amer Ari Invitational (Feb. 4-6, 207, -9), sixth at the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13, 218, +2) and T-7 at last weekend's Pac-12 Championships (April 29-May 1, 282, -2).
Madey was the top UCLA scorer twice at The Hayt (Feb. 26-28, T-19, +5) and The Goodwin (March 24-26, T-35, +5). With a scoring average of 73.7, he has five under-par rounds and three in the 60's, including a season-best 65 (second round) at the Amer Ari Invitational. Madey has four Top 20 showings, placing T-12 at the Gifford (216, +3), T-13 at the Amer Ari (211, -5), T-15 at Pac-12s (287, +3) and T-19 at the Hayt (221, +5).
The Bruins will learn their postseason fate on Thursday at 6:30 a.m. PT when Golf Channel announces the Regional selections.
