"Tonight was a good result and a good performance from us against a very tough San Diego State team," said UCLA head coach Jorge Salcedo. "The goal was well deserved with a good individual run from Reggie Cannon and a critical finish from Jose Hernandez."
The 19th-ranked Bruins scored at 63:22 as Cannon sent a cross into the box that found Hernandez who one-timed the pass into the upper-left corner past SDSU's Adam Allmaras. The goal is Hernandez's third of the season as he has now scored in back-to-back contests.

The Aztecs came into the game having allowed only four goals this season and ranked top-three in the nation in goals against average. UCLA now holds three victories against Top 20 opponents this season including No. 1 Akron (6-1) and No. 13 UCSB (2-1 in OT).
San Diego State looked to tie the game late in regulation as Travis Nicklaw took a shot in the 88th minute but Silva made a diving stop to keep the shutout intact. Silva has recorded clean sheets in both of his starts this season.

"I felt that we were in control for most of the game and with a little more luck could have scored two more goals," added Salcedo. "That's a credit to their goalkeeper who came up with some very big saves. Overall, I'm happy to get a win against a very good team."
UCLA (6-3-1, 2-1-0 Pac-12) continues a three-match road swing in Pac-12 play on Thursday, Oct. 13 at California beginning at 4 pm.
