The 19-time NCAA Champion UCLA men's volleyball team will swing into action this weekend with a pair of exhibition matches on Saturday, Nov. 5 against Stanford in the SAC (Student Activities Center) Gym on campus. Match times are 10 am and 2 pm.
Next weekend, the Bruins host the annual SAC Fall Tournament on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12 featuring teams from USC, UC Santa Barbara and CSUN. In exhibition matches on Friday at 5 p.m., UCLA will meet CSUN and USC battles UC Santa Barbara. On Saturday at 9 a.m., UCLA will take on UC Santa Barbara while CSUN squares off against USC. In the 2 p.m. matches, UCLA will play USC and UCSB challenges CSUN. All matches will be played in the SAC Gym on campus.
The 2017 regular season begins on the road for the Bruins, who advanced to the NCAA semifinals a year ago, with matches at two-time national champion Loyola-Chicago on Jan. 3 and in the Pac-12/BigTen Challenge in Columbus, Ohio against Penn State on Friday, Jan. 6 and versus defending national champ Ohio State on Saturday, Jan. 7.
A contest against UC Irvine on Thursday, Jan. 12 kicks off a 14-match home schedule for John Speraw's squad. It is the first of five straight home matches to start league play, with UC San Diego due in on Jan. 14, Cal Baptist on Jan. 18, USC on Jan. 20 and UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 25. In addition to matches versus CSUN (Feb. 15), Long Beach State (Feb. 18) and Hawai'I (Apr. 6 & 7), the Bruins will compete this season against non-conference opponents from Princeton, Lewis, Harvard, Sacred Heart and Concordia.
