Hernandez earns third team honors for the first time in his career.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – UCLA sophomore midfielder Jose Hernandez was named a third team NSCAA All-America selection, announced the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Friday.

The honor marks Hernandez's first All-America honor of his career. This is the ninth consecutive season that the Bruins have had at least one player earn an All-America accolade.

Hernandez, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, was named a NSCAA All-Far West region first team selection earlier this month for the second-straight season. He was selected as the Pac-12 Co-Player of the Year and an All-Pac-12 first team honoree.

He finished second on the team in points (16) and goals (5) and was third in assists (6). He collected a pair of game-winning goals during conference play, at No. 13 San Diego State on Oct. 8 and against Oregon State on Oct. 2. Hernandez also tallied a pair of assists in a 4-3 win at Oregon State in the team's final road contest. He ended the season ranked in the top-10 in the Pac-12 in points, goals, assists and game-winning goals. Hernandez is ranked No. 27 on Top Drawer Soccer's midseason list and was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
